The Economist's Open Future Competition for youth

Open Future by The Economist, one of the world's largest blogging and journalism site which according to pmnewswire.com is an editorial initiative to remake the case for the newspapers' founding principles of individual freedom and free trade, which are being challenged in today's political climate of populism and growing authoritarianism.

 

Open Future Essay Competition 2019

According to the official blog post made on The Economist, there shall be just one essay contest made, with the theme THE ENVIRONMENT
Essay question includes: What fundamental economic and political change, if any, is needed for an effective response to climate change?

  • -Entries for the competition should be 1000 words or less in length and only should be in English.
  • -The winning entry of the essay competition shall be published by The Economist.

 

Prizes

  • -The winner of the competition shall be invited to one of The Economist's Open Future event to be held on October 5th, plus an economy-class flight ticket and hotel accommodation for at least two nights. (This also includes coverage for the guardian in case the winner is younger than 18 years.)

 

How To Participate

  • -The competition is open to individuals between 16 and 25 years of age.
  • -Entries must be submitted as PLAINTEXT in the body of an email addressed to OpenFuture@Economist.com, with the subject line: “Open Future essay competition”. 
  • Note: Submissions should be made in the SUBJECT body and not as an attachment.
  • -All submissions must be original works of the entrant.
  • -All submissions are to be made on or before July 31st, 2019!
